Host/Cashier

Provides exceptional customer service and assistance in a friendly and professional manner. Main duties of a host/cashier include greeting and communicating with customers, utilizing a cash register and debit/check machine in processing meal sales, seating customers, and bussing tables.

Main duties of a busser include clearing, cleaning, and setting tables, removing empty dishes while customers are dining, and assisting customers with questions or problems as necessary.

Job Function & Duties:

  • Utilize the cash register and debit/check machine in processing meal sales and give correct change to cash customers.
  • Greet customers and communicate with them prior to ringing them up e.g. ages of customers, meal change-over times/price changes, etc.
  • Seat customers, explain specials and buffet setup, and assist them with questions and problems as necessary.
  • Balance a cash drawer.
  • Utilize a telephone in answering and transferring in-coming calls.
  • Perform duties related to the host/hostess area e.g. keeping supplies stocked, routine cleaning and organizing, minor cleaning of the lobby floor, etc.
  • Remove empty or finished tableware while customers are dining and completely remove tableware when customers have departed.
    • Properly sort tableware into the bussing cart.
  • Wipe tables and seats and clean floor (if necessary) after customers leave and set tables for next customers.
  • Perform related duties such as filling salt and pepper shakers, stocking table settings carts, routine cleaning and organizing of work area, etc.
  • Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by the management e.g. help with setup and disassembly of private rooms, etc.
  • Lift and/or carry objects light weight as per United States Department of Labor definitions.
  • Follow company health and safety expectations.
