The manager assists the department staff with the goal of producing a wide array of food items of exceptional quality and maintaining an attractive bar, meeting or exceeding health and safety requirements, and providing exceptional customer service and satisfaction. Duties include scheduling, supervising, training, and assisting both kitchen and buffet staff, managing food and supplies inventories, and coordinating daily food preparation tasks.

- Communicating with employees, giving appropriate praise and feedback, answering questions, directing and assisting in the resolution of problems and conflicts, helping them maintain positive attitudes, and making sure they are performing their job duties satisfactorily.
- Assisting customers with dietary questions, and all other related questions.
- Write the weekly schedules.
- Lead the employee training, development, and evaluation (as scheduled by the HR department).
- Monitoring inventory of baked goods, salad, and produce and ordering when manager is off.
- Overseeing food preparation, including maintaining quality control and developing and implementing enhancement ideas.
- Overseeing bar areas, including quality control, availability, sanitation, and health and safety requirements.
- Ensuring that work and storage areas are orderly and clean.
- Perform the duties of a department employee as designated by schedule.
Job Skills:
- At least six months of combined experience performing the duties of a buffet attendant and prep cook.
- Able to read, write, gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
- Able to organize and coordinate tasks, schedules, resources, etc.
- Able to lead, influence, motivate, and mentor employees
- Ability to function as a “team player” with peers and supervisors.
- Maintain good attendance as per the attendance policy
- Display a willing and teachable attitude
Education and Experience: Education and/or experience in the culinary and pastry arts is required.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift, push, and pull 10-30 pounds– 30% of the time
- Be able to move around quickly
- Walking, bending, kneeling, standing, pushing and pulling
- Ability to stand on feet for the duration of the shift
- Occasionally work in a refrigerated environment
