Job Summary:  The Grocery Manager is responsible for overseeing the Grocery department including; personnel, ordering products, writing ads, and enforcing all company rules and regulations. As well as being the direct report for Dairy, Frozen, GM/HBA & Pricing departments. While providing outstanding customer service in a friendly and knowledgeable manner.

Duties and responsibilities: 

  • All employees are expected to uphold our company’s values, vision, and mission daily, ensuring alignment with our core principles and goals.
  • Receive & carry out direction given by upper management
  • Meet with & make sure all direct reports are carrying out the duties of their departments
  • Be the evening closing manager as needed, making sure the building is secure before leaving
  • Write grocery ads & prepare all pricing information for the pricing department
  • Order products for the ad via Food Shows, sales reps, and UNFI ad survey
  • Respond to all emails & phone calls promptly
  • Give great customer service by answering questions, solving problems, special orders, price checks, etc.
  • Help train new employees, be first to spend time with them, them and then hand off to the person training them
  • Do yearly employee evaluations of team leaders under you
  • Be certified to run motorized pallet jacks, high lifts, tow motors
  • Help maintain order in the grocery warehouse
  • Schedule grocery department employees to maintain a well-stocked department while meeting labor goals
  • Give direction to dayshift stockers on the building of displays
  • Attend Food Shows some of which may involve overnight travel
  • Help build displays, and stock shelves as needed
  • Make sure all paperwork is handed in on time

Education and Experience:  Prior retail and management experience required.
